I’m a bavarian girl through and through and I have been wearing traditional clothes („Dirndl“ for the ladies) all my life – from my first day of school to family festivities and the annual Oktoberfest in Munich, of course. The original and traditional shoes to be worn with a Dirndl are called „Haferlschuhe“, but I never liked them. Here are my ideas and tips for shoes that look good with a Dirndl.
My all-time favorites: classic stilettos
Two pairs of classic pumps are essential to me: one black and one nude-colored pair. They are so versatile, wearable at the office, on date nights, at weddings, or with a Dirndl. Here are my shopping recommendations for these versatile basics, for any budget!
Sometimes, stilettos are not the right choice, though. For cold and chilly days (plenty of those here in Germany…), I love wearing boots with a dirndl. My selection ranges from peep-toe ankle boots to cowboy boots and classic ankle boots – which one is your favorite?
Even flats go great with a dirndl. Ballerina shoes are not really talk of the town right now, I know…. but I do not really care. I have always loved ballerina shoes and have experienced some „in & out phases“ with them, for me they are an integral part of my shoe cabinet and I like to wear them over and over again. I absolutely recommend the brand „Pretty Ballerinas“, the quality and fit are excellent. My oldest pair of Pretty Ballerinas I’ve had for 12 (!) years now, and they still look good. Yes, I’m a fashion blogger wearing 12 year old shoes!
Loafers are a good choice as well. And if I’m planning to be spending the night dancing, (I’m thinking of Oktoberfest here…) or if I’m out and about with my kids, I like to wear Superga sneakers – they are available in almost any color and can be matched with any Dirndl.
My favorite flats:
The Dirndl I’m wearing here is by Munich designer label called CocoVero. The beautiful, high-quality Dirndl are available online at cocovero.com, at the Munich flagship store (Adalbertstraße 35) or at the department store Ludwig Beck in Munich. The label not only offers very sophisticated Dirndl, but also traditional and bridal ones, a men’s collection and matching accessories. I love the brand for their bavarian tradition inspired designs with a contemprary and modern twist. And the apron straps are extra-wide and long for you to create the prettiest bows!
My favorites from the latest CocoVero collection – clockwise:
- Dirndl Lena
- Dirndl Hedi (worn on my photos)
- Dirndl Janni
- Cardigan Minzi – incredibly soft and comfy, looks great worn with jeans, too!
